Terms of Service

Last updated September 2026
This is a starting-point placeholder, not a final legal document. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will be replaced with a proper Terms of Service before LocalHaul is available to the general public. It's published now so account holders have something real to read rather than nothing.

1. What LocalHaul is

LocalHaul is a platform that connects shippers, brokers, and carriers who need local freight moved with independent drivers and carriers who can move it. LocalHaul itself is not a motor carrier and does not transport freight — it provides the marketplace, messaging, tracking, and payment tools that connect the two sides of a load.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. Drivers and carriers are responsible for holding and maintaining their own valid operating authority, licensing, and insurance — LocalHaul's credential review is a documentation check, not a substitute for your own legal compliance as a motor carrier or driver.

3. Posting and accepting loads

Posters choose how a load is priced — a firm rate, a rate with room to counter-offer, or open bidding — and generate the appropriate agreement (a rate confirmation or lease agreement, depending on the authority posted under) automatically. LocalHaul doesn't guarantee that any posted load will be filled, or that any driver will be available for a given load.

4. Payments and fees

Payments are processed through Stripe via ACH bank transfer. LocalHaul's platform commission is currently 0% — this may change in the future, with notice. Detention pay and cancellation fees work as described in the app; LocalHaul does not retain a share of either.

5. Prohibited conduct

You may not submit false or fraudulent credentials, misrepresent your driver class or operating authority, or attempt to circumvent the platform's payment or messaging systems. LocalHaul may suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is." LocalHaul is not responsible for freight loss or damage, delays, or disputes between a poster and a driver — those remain between the parties to the load, same as they would through any other freight arrangement.

7. Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the product develops. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.

8. Contact

Contact information will be added here once a support channel is set up.
